I love this poem “The Prophet”by Khalil Gibran
“And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, “Speak to us of Children.” And he said:
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.”
The above photo was taken on the day that Simon was blessed in our church. These two really are the most precious gifts. I am amazed at the trust our Father in Heaven must have in me to raise them, and teach them to be kind and to choose the right. Motherhood is not easy, but I’m going to try to do my absolute best!

Simon turns two months old today. It breaks my heart how fast the time has gone by! He isn’t a new newborn anymore. He’s 12 lbs 9 oz, 24 inches long, wearing 3-6 month clothes and wearing size two diapers! He’s already 1/6th through his first year! SLOW DOWN! I was feeling sad about how fast it has gone, and kinda guilty because I feel like I haven’t taken enough photos of him. (In reality I take at least a photo of him a day with the iPhone, but haven’t broken out the Canon as much as I would like) So, I decided to have just a quick little photo shoot on my living room floor to document that it’s been 2 months since his birth. I love him so much! He is such a joy in our home. Claire is just the sweetest big sister imaginable too. Here’s my favorite from our photo shoot today.

Claire decided she wanted in on the action, so I snapped a few of the two of them together.

Forgive that the blogging around here is still slow! Some days I barely even get the chance to brush my teeth! These two keep me on my tippy toes! But hang tight cause I’ve got a lot of great images I’d love to share.

I’ve had inquiries about whether I am taking any sessions at this time. I am, just a select few. So email me with any inquiries you may have about your portrait session or wedding!
