How to look good in photos

My goal is to have any person being photographed, using any type of camera look good in any photo so here is the beginning of my series on how YOU can look good in photos.

So it took me..oh…THREE years to finally buckle down and make a facebook business page for my photography. Will you please like my page? So I thought it would be fun, that in addition to my images from my recent shoots, I would give my facebook subscribers tips on how they themselves can look good in photos. Whether it be a professional photo to a cell phone photo.

My first tip: Wear lip color!

It seems so obvious, but you wouldn’t believe how many women get in front of my camera with no lip color on! In a photo, if you don’t have anything on your lips, sometimes they can disappear into your face (photo left). Β Balm or clear gloss won’t cut it. Put some color on your lips!

Now since you have traveled all the way across the interwebs to land here on my blog, here’s my next tip. (Shhh! I haven’t even posted this on my facebook page yet!)

Want to know how to lose ten pounds in a photo, instead of having the camera add ten pounds?

Tip 2: Long neck, chin forward, & chin down

There you have it! My first of many tips to come on how YOU can look good in your photos! Please like my facebook photography page to see more!

Love it! Thank you! I SO need these. I’ve been working on losing weight and my face still seems chubby to me in pictures.

I generally don’t make comments but I felt I had to this time. I love this tip! I immediately had my 11 yr old take my picture using your tips; it does make a huge difference and we ended up laughing so hard because as he was taking the picture he kept saying, “Mom, what are you doing? You look really weird! lol

What do you mean by “long neck” and “chin forward”? As I need to not show the double chin in photos, I really need help with this!

Hi Sarah! When I say “long neck”, that just means to act tall, then bring your chin away from your neck, and dip it down just a little bit. Practice in the mirror, or take a couple self portraits and see the difference! It does indeed hide the double chin for those of us (myself included) who are jawline challenged!

My mother (84 years young) has done this in all of her photos since I can remember, and she always looks so amazing in photos! People can never believe her age. I can never remember to do it! lol
Love your site and pics. Good luck!
